Pre-bonded hair extensions, applied with a heat and glue method and often referred to as keratin glue extensions, are a fabulous way to add long-lasting length, fullness and highlights to natural hair. Pre-bonded extensions are made with 100% human hair and come in various textures and colors, and can last up to four months with proper care. With the right tools and time-tested application methods, you'll be well on your way to a brand-new look.

1. Prepare your workspace by turning on your heating tool and placing the pre-bonded extensions on a flat surface within reach. If you want a more natural appearance on areas such as the sides and rear hairline, you can snip 15 pieces of hair through the center of the glue base and set aside.
2. Separate the hair into sections. First, take a horseshoe-shaped section of hair on top of the head, encompassing the bangs and crown. Twist the hair and clip it out of the way with duckbill clips. Next, comb the sideburns forward and pin in front of the ears. Create a horizontal part about halfway between the crown section and the nape of the neck; clip the upper section out of the way.
3. Leave a 1/2-inch section of hair loose around the nape of the neck for a natural hairline. Above the loose hair, separate the first row of hair onto which you will apply the pre-bonded extension. Clip the rest of the hair out of the way with duckbill clips.
4. Select strands of hair in sections that are roughly equal to half the size of the glue tip. This is the hair to which the pre-bonded extension will be attached. Position the glue tip a 1/2 inch away from the scalp on the underside of the hair, grasping lightly with your thumb and forefinger.

5. Clamp the pincers of the heating tool against the glue tip and selected hair strands. You can hold the tool in place or open and close the clamp several times. Listen for the sizzling sound of the glue heating, as this is when you will remove the tool.

6. Remove the heating tool and gently roll the melted glue tip around the hair strand to form a cylinder as it cools.
7. Repeat the application down the row by selecting sections of hair strands, heating the glue tip so that the extension bonds to the hair and allowing the glue to cool in a cylinder around the hair.
8. Unclip your lower hair section on the back of the head and comb a thin horizontal part just above the row of application. Reclip the rest of the hair out of the way. Apply extensions to this row and the section above it until you reach the horseshoe-shaped section at the top of the head.
9. Remove the clips from the separated sideburn sections. Apply the snipped pieces of pre-bonded hair evenly but sparingly for a natural look.
10. Release the top horseshoe-shaped section of hair and comb into place. Trim if needed to blend the hair with the extensions; style as desired.

Tips & Warnings
For a full application of pre-bonded hair extensions, select a color and curl pattern that match your natural look and the way you plan to wear your hair most often. For highlights, you can go as crazy as you want.
If you want to use pre-bonded extensions to add highlights, adapt the sectioning method to focus on smaller, strategic areas.
Only apply pre-bonded extensions to clean, dry hair. Chemical processes such as coloring or relaxers should be done at least a week before applying pre-bonded extensions.
Leaving loose hair between extensions strands in each row can cause tangling.
